Oswego Snow

The snowfall in the Oswego area has gained some national attention.   It could be as much as twelve feet.  Seeing all the pictures of Oswego makes me reminisce about my old college days.  While I was there we had very mild winters so I didn't know what all the hype was about.  It was windy though, damn windy.  Anyway, I was talking to a buddy from New York and he said that he saw an ad in a local paper that advertised "Roof Shoveling -- Fully Insured," so he decided to put out his own ad but with a twist, "Roof Shoveling -- You must be insured.  Church steeples are my specialty"  Surprisingly he got some responses.  The other guy must be too pricey.

It is quite a sight. Driving through the side roads of Oswego is similiar to that of a maze. Night classes were cancelled Wednesday and I actually got stuck on the road right next to a SUV Police car. We were inches from colliding as we both rocked our cars gently back and forth. That was a fright.

I actually thought it would be fun on our first snowday to jump off our roof into a snowpile. I messed my left knee up for a couple days. I made note before my jump to keep my neck stiff, as when I jumped off our side porch after shoveling it off with Dad I pulled my neck muscle.

I have vowed that my roof jumping days are over.

Geez kiddo, be careful. I have to say that I miss the excitement of a big snowstorm being down here. This year we had snow twice, less than an inch both times. I was driving to work in the AM and there was like 50 school kids who had the day off congregated on this hill with their sleds. It made me chuckle. One girl even had a snowboard. I didn't even know you could buy sleds down here.
